Boyk Law Bikes for Kids 2024 Latest Winners
Charles Boyk Law has wrapped up our 16th Annual Bikes for Kids Contest. We gave away 11 new bikes in 10 weeks to deserving kids this summer.
Over the previous years, we have learned that many of the strongest nominations come from area educators. When reviewing the contest submissions, we always give strong consideration to nominations from area school teachers and principals.
Lana was nominated by her teacher, Jennifer Mayo, who leads the safety patrol at Shoreland Elementary in Washington Local Schools. Jennifer told us that Lana was a dedicated member of the school safety patrol and would ride her bike to her post every day, to make sure her fellow students got to school safely. When her teacher noticed her hand-me-down bike was in bad condition, she nominated Lana for Boyk Law’s 2024 Bikes for Kids contest. Charles Boyk Law selected Lana as a 2024 Bikes for Kids winner in recognition of her dedicated service to her school community.
Leah, our week 6 winner, was nominated by Kellie Radcliff, one of her teachers at Bowling Green Middle School. She told Boyk Law, “Leah is a hard-working young lady who has shown up every day ready to learn and do her best even though she has suffered a tragic loss in her family.” Despite this world-changing event, “Leah cares about her academics and works hard
to produce her best work.” At Charles Boyk Law, we admire Leah’s resilient strength of spirit and her commitment to academics in the face of unexpected loss. We selected Leah as a 2024 Bikes for Kids winner for her courage and dedication to persevere and overcome challenges.
Deaundre was nominated by a family friend, who said, “Deaundre is a 14-year-old teenager with autism. He recently attained his first job with the Young Artist at Work program (through the Toledo Arts Commission). Because his mother works full time to care for him and his two other siblings, Deaundre must walk to the Toledo Museum of Art daily to work. Deaundre is an amazing kid and has borrowed bikes to get where he needs to go in the past, but it would be amazing for him to have his own mode of transportation.” Charles Boyk Law selected Deaundre as a 2024 Bikes for Kids Winner to help him get to his summer job safely and pursue his dream of a career in the arts.
Charles Boyk Law is happy to present our winners with a new bike. Wersell’s Bike Shop presented all of our 2024 Bikes for Kids winners with a new helmet and bike lock, and Brightz provided LED lights to illuminate the wheels of their new bikes. We thank our partners for their continued support of our program.
