Homeowners Insurance Increases, Part 2 | Toledo, Ohio Accident Lawyers

Homeowners insurance rates have increased almost 10 percent in Ohio. Here are Mike Carroll’s tips for offsetting any increases to your homeowners insurance:

1) Raise your deductible under the mentality that home insurance should be for catastrophic events. If you could pay that deductible in a catastrophic claim, then by all means raise it.

2) Make sure you are NOT over-insured. In light of the housing meltdown, request that your current agency do an ITV (Insurance To Value) calculator so you are not paying for coverage you do not need.
