Get Rich Quick Schemes Can Make You Poor!

As recently reported by the Northwest Ohio Better Business Bureau, the number of “be your own boss” scams are on the rise across northwest Ohio and across the country.  These types of scams pop up more and more when the economy is in a slump (as it is now) and people are looking for ways to earn extra money.  But, the old saying is true: if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

For example, ads promising big money for “working at home” are some of the biggest scams in Ohio today.  Con artists use people’s desire to earn easy money from home to swindle them out of millions of dollars every year.  Ohio consumers should be especially aware of ads that promise to send a consumer a “how to make money” manual in exchange for money.  Oftentimes the manual will come, but with generic and generally useless information.

Also, ads claiming that Ohio consumers can make money as “mystery shoppers” are also usually fraudulent.  Most people cannot make money by walking around Toledo area malls all day.  In fact, the opposite is usually true.

In sum, consumers have to use common sense.  If people were really able to make thousands of dollars per week while working from home with little to no training, then most of the population would be working from home.  If you believe that you have been defrauded by a get-rich-quick scheme or by some other means, call the attorneys at the Charles E.
