In 2012, State Farm insurance company reported a total of 3,760 dog bite clams and ending up paying $108 million. Below are the top 10 states for dog bite claims reported to State Farm:

With Dog Bite Prevention Week taking place in just a few days (May 19-25) there seems to be no better time than now to raise awareness. Our office believes that both dog owners and the general public must be aware of the safety tips necessary to help prevent dog bite attacks.

  • Don’t run past a dog
  • Don’t scream when threatened by a dog and avoid eye contact
  • Don’t approach a strange dog
  • Don’t pet unknown dogs
  • Try to place an object between you and the dog in the event of an attack
