Doctor Named In Heart Surgery Wrongful Death
The family of a man who died last June has filed a wrongful death claim against an Ohio doctor. Stanley Zirkle Sr. died at Winchester Medical Center on June 3rd.
The lawsuit names Dr. John Arnold as the defendant in the case and seeks $2 million for Mr. Zirkle’s three surviving sons.
The lawsuit alleges that on June 2nd Mr.
Zirkle underwent a left heart catheterization at the hospital and because of the results, a coronary artery bypass grafting was needed.
During the catheterization, however, he sustained an injury to his right femoral artery. Although this is a known risk, they continued with the procedure the next day despite diminished hemoglobin and hemocratic levels shown in pre-surgery tests. Mr. Zirkle sustained serious blood loss and eventually died from the injuries he subsequently sustained.
