A Word To All Dog Owners
Recently, a 12-year-old boy was riding his bike home from a friend’s house when he went past a woman pushing a stroller and walking her dog. As the boy passed, the dog unexpectedly lunged and bit him on the back of the leg. After the woman looked at the boy’s wound, she told him that he had frightened her dog because it is afraid of skateboards and bicycles.
This incident brings about a very important point for all dog owners: If your dog is known to be afraid of something, either exercise extreme caution in these situations or do everything in your power to keep your dog out of situations where they might feel provoked. With this woman’s prior knowledge of her dog’s fear of bicycles, she should have had the dog on a much tighter leash, especially since there were young children around. Thankfully, the bite was not too serious, but it could have been much worse.
