$2.25 Million Awarded In Drunk Driving Case

An off-duty officer was drinking at a bar and then got behind the wheel. While driving the officer swerved and started driving on the wrong side of the road and struck another vehicle. Four young people were killed in this accident. The parents of these kids sued the officer and the bar that gave the officer alcohol. They sued the officer because her blood alcohol content was much higher than the legal amount allowed and the bar because they continued to serve the alcohol even though they knew she was drunk and they did not stop her from driving. They were rewarded $2.25 million for the lawsuit.
