General Motors Recalls 1.5 Million Cars For Steering Issue

General Motors has announced that they are recalling 1.5 million vehicles in the United States due to an issue with the electronic power-steering assist.

This electronic power-steering of the GM vehicles can suddenly stop working.

As you can imagine, this poses very serious dangers for driver with the vehicles that are issued under this recall.

Electronic Power-Steering Recall

The vehicles that are included in this GM recall include the following:

  • Chevrolet Malibu
  • Malibu Maxx
  • Chevrolet HHR
  • Saturn Aura
  • Saturn Ion
  • Pontiac G6

The model years affected by the recall vary, but all of the vehicles included in the recall are from the model year 2010 or earlier.

General Motors Recalls

This electronic power-steering recall comes at a time in which General Motors is in the news for various other recalls. This most recent recall brings the total number of vehicles recalled by the automaker to 6.

General Motors Issues Three Additional Recalls

Those affected by this latest recall will be able to access their dealers to replace the power steering motor and other parts at no cost. However, recall-related costs for GM are expected to total $750 million in the first quarter.

Recall Related Vehicle Accidents

There appears to be no accidents related to this specific recall. There was however several accidents and deaths related to the ignition switch recall that GM issued earlier this month.
