State Farm Settles Miss. Katrina Lawsuits; Cost Could Exceed $80 Million

State Farm Insurance has agreed to pay out a minimum $50 million to the members of a Mississippi class action settlement involving property claims related to Hurricane Katrina, according to state Attorney General Jim Hood. There is no cap on the amount that may be awarded, Hood said. A rough estimate indicates that the minimum offers on the slabs alone will cost State Farm approximately $80 million. State Farm will pay all costs associated with the arbitration process, except that policyholders will be required to pay their own expert and attorney fees. For more details, follow the link below.
