Meet Steve - A Q&A Session

Ever wondered how Steve ended up as one of the most famous voices in Toledo? Read below to find out that and more!

1. How long have you worked for the law firm?

About 2 months as of the middle of June.

2. Give a little background on your work for KISS FM and the various charities you help.

I am an on-air personality. I have a couple segments called Office Gossip where people around the city can give me gossip tips on anyone on the show, local TV personalities, city council members, coaches, or anything else that's going on that's gossip-worthy. I also spearhead all the community charities through the show, plus relief efforts and anything we can do to help people in need. Some of the groups I've worked with include the Love for Lupe project, Restaurant Relief, The Fuller Group of Toledo, the AIDS Resource Center, Make-A-Wish, Save the Senior Sisters, Trike4Mike, the Arts Commission of Toledo and the Downtown Toledo Warehouse Committee.

3. What are your hobbies?

I enjoy entertaining friends, art, exercising (when I can), cooking, listening to jazz music, interior design, reading, fundraising, gardening, and I love my Buckeye football.

4. What's your favorite part about working at the law firm?

I love the people and I love that everyone takes their jobs seriously but still has a good time. I also love the creativity that comes with working here and the support that my bosses give me. I really enjoy being busy and having deadlines, and I like that the office encourages me to be creative yet also be cognizant of getting tasks accomplished. And I really love that the office is part of the downtown community.

5. What has been your favorite experience your jobs with the radio station and law firm have afforded you?

The best parts about the radio station are how people in the community tell me how much they enjoy what I do and how I make them laugh; one thing I've never done is take myself too seriously. I also love doing the charity work through the radio station. As far as the law firm goes, I love the challenge it gives me. I help the firm market itself to the community and I love doing that. In my mind, the sky is the limit for what the firm can do, and I like that Chuck gets that business is about who you know and what people can do for one another.

6. How did you get involved with the radio station and the law firm?

I got involved with the radio station through a friend of sorts, Bill Michaels, who is the program director for KISS FM. I met him through some mutual friends and he immediately thought I would be perfect for the morning show. He said I had an incredible voice and a unique character. He set up a meeting with me, Andrew Zepeda, and producer Jason Owens and they hired me almost on the spot.

I got involved with the law firm while working for the radio station on the Love for Lupe project. People from the Charles Boyk Law Offices volunteered their services and time to help this woman who had lost so much get her life back on track. I met Leslie Rombkowski, the firm's office manager, and Anneke Kurt, the marketing director, and spent four or five months with them working hard to see the project through. About two weeks after the ribbon cutting at Lupe's new home they offered me my position at the law firm and it was like God taking me to heaven! It all has been like a fairy tale; it's been a blast.
