Wrong-Way Driver Receives Maximum Sentence

On Christmas Eve 2012 a tragic accident occurred on Interstate 75, killing Juan Garcia of Toledo. Adam Tunison was traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-75 when he collided with 26-year-old Juan Garcia, who was driving home from midnight mass.

Tunison’s sentencing was today and he received eight years, along with a lifetime suspended driver’s license.

It is thought by police that Tunison was drinking before the accident that cost Garcia’s life.

This accident was one of many wrong-way crashes that occurred in 2012. Head-on collisions most often result in tragic outcomes, this accident being a prime example. Our office hopes that we do not hear of any more wrong-way crashes in the Toledo area. Our thoughts are continually with the families of the victims that the 2012 wrong-way accidents have claimed.
