Workplace Injury Settles for $7.75 Million

Joseph Carnevale was only 25 when he was injured while on the job. He was employed by Dutchess Fire Protection as a sprinkler fitter. In 2003 he was working at the IBM East Fishkill facility in New York doing renovations. While he was up on a ladder working it collapsed, seriously injuring him.

The lawsuit alleged that there were violations of New York State Labor Law. The settlement of $7.75 million will be paid to Mr. Carnevale by the insurance companies for IBM, C.B. Strain & Sons Inc., Sordoni Skanska Inc., and Skanska USA Buildings Inc.
