The two people involved in an Ottawa County car accident on Sunday were both injured, one of them was seriously injured.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, Adam Lay, 18, was driving a full-sized SUV when he failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign. When he turned left onto State Rt. 2 from State Rt. 579. Mr. Lay's SUV collided with an eastbound car driven by Katie Katich, 28.
Following the crash, Ms. Katich was flown from the scene of the accident to the University of Toledo Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Her current physical condition is unknown at this particular time.
Mr. Lay was taken from the scene of the accident to Mercy St. Charles Hospital with what appears to be non life-threatening injuries. His current physical condition is also unknown at this particular time.
The accident is still under investigation by authorities as they seek to fully realize the events that occurred before, during, and after this crash. Alcohol and or drugs are not believed to have influenced this collision but they also have not been ruled out yet at this time either.
