What To Do if Your Family Member was Killed in Deer Gun Season

There were a total of three fatalities of Ohio deer hunters during this year’s Deer Gun Season. This is the first time that hunters have been killed during the season since 2009.

The Department of Natural Resources has released the hunters’ names that were killed. Two were killed on Monday, December 2, one in Coshocton County, east of Columbus and the other in Gallia County is southern Ohio. The third fatality was the following day, December 3 in Fulton County where Oregon man, Jacob Karamol.

All of the Deer Gun Season fatalities are thought to be accidental shootings.

One hunter, Gary Pace, was found dead in a tree stand. He reportedly shot himself, but details of the other deaths were not available at this time.

Even though gun season is over, hunters can still hunt for deer later this winter with bows and muzzleloaders. Muzzleloader season is January 4-7, while archery season opens on February 2.
