A crash that consisted of 50 vehicles last Wednesday resulted in tragedy and more damages than anyone imagined. The snow storm that rolled in on Wednesday resulted in dangerous conditions on the Ohio Turnpike that caused numerous vehicles to collide, ultimately shutting down a stretch of the turnpike.
Ohio Turnpike Crash
The result of this massive pileup was the death of three people and the serious injury of a trooper that had become pinned in-between two vehicles. We have received reports that the injured trooper underwent surgery on Saturday for his injuries and is recovering.
There was a two-mile stretch of the turnpike that became overcome with debris from the crash. On Friday, bulldozers came into the area as workers cleaned the debris from the eastbound lanes of the road. Our office reported on the accident just hours after it happened through our blog. At that time, we had word that two individuals had died as a result of the crash and that people remained trapped inside of their vehicles.
Family Member Killed in Turnpike Pileup
Our office’s thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones in this multiple-vehicle accident. The Port Clinton News Herald reported that the victims in this tragic accident included a truck driver from Illinois, a 20-year-old woman from Parma, Hannah Matheny, and a 66-year-old woman from Indiana, Janice Robb.
Accidents such as this are completely unexpected for families and are overwhelming to deal with. It is hard to imagine all of a sudden losing your loved one due to a vehicle accident. We send our support to the families who are mourning the loss of their family members
We urge the family members of these three individuals to seek legal guidance from an Ohio car accident lawyer. It is likely that they can file a claim for the wrongful death of their family member in the event that the accident was deemed the fault of another individual. Multiple vehicle accidents can be confusing, making it that much more important to seek an experienced and knowledgeable lawyer to handle your case.
