Toledo Police Officer Sued in Lawsuit on Behalf of Linda Hicks | Toledo, Ohio wrongful death lawyer

Last December Linda Hicks was fatally shot by police officers because she was threatening them with a pair of scissors. Linda, who was 62, was schizophrenic and was at Marria's Adult Home at the time of the incident.

Officer Diane Chandler, who is the one who shot Ms. Hicks is named in the lawsuit file by our office on behalf of the Hicks family.

In this case the defendants are The City of Toledo for violation of civil rights and wrongful death, the Toledo Police Department for violation of civil rights and wrongful death, Diane Chandler for violation of civil rights, gross negligence, assault, battery and wrongful death and Marria's Adult Family home for negligence and wrongful death.

There is a second case filed against Diane Chandler as well. Charles Boyk Law Offices is handling this case as well. This lawsuit states that Officer Chandler was pursuing a stolen vehicle when the passenger of the vehicle fled the vehicle before it crashed into a building. The passenger then stopped and put his hands up. Officer Chandler turned her vehicle into the man at approximately 35-40 mph, throwing him 10-12 feet in the air. He suffered severe head, back and neck injuries because of this. Witnesses say that it did not appear that Ms. Chandler had attempted to brake at all.
