The importance of machine gaurding
Last year an employee of Pan Pac Forest was working at cleearing jammed laths when a co-worker tunred on a piece of machinery, not knowing that a fellow employee was nearby, crushing the other man's ankle.Investigations into the the company found that Pan Pac failed to adequately isolate the hazards associated with the machinery.
In light of accidents like this one, it is so important that employers provide machinery isolation and a lockout system. By installing these systems they greatly reduce the amount of injuries and the risk of injury to their employess.
