Service Worker Critically Injured at Job Site
While resurfacing the road on Monday, a Willoughby Service Department worker, 50, had been critically injured while on the job. He was working on smoothing the asphalt on Strawberry Lane in the morning when the company’s rolling machine had malfunctioned. The 50-year-old was working on top of a hill at the construction site when the chain on the machine gave out and it began to roll downhill. The worker was operating the device at the time and after failing to stop it he jumped out of the moving vehicle. He hit his head on the pavement and suffered numerous head injuries. The victim was reported as in critical condition at the Lake Health West Medical Center and was then transported by helicopter to Cleveland’s MetroHealth Medical Center.
