SANDUSKY POLICE OFFICER INVOLVED IN CRASH | TOLEDO, OHIO CAR ACCIDENT LAWYER

Three people were transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center after a crash involving a Sandusky police cruiser at the intersection of Warren and Reese Street.

Sandusky police Officer Jody Showalter was dispatched to a fight in the 400 block of Warren Street and activated his lights and siren. Virginia Porter, who was driving a white Chevy Blazer south on Warren Street, saw the police vehicle and slowed down, but did not stop. Showalter's cruiser, headed west on Warren Street, struck the left, rear corner of Porter's vehicle, "causing it to spin around and then face northbound in the southbound lane as it came to a stop," the report said. The police cruiser sustained heavy damage to its front left side, which appeared to have a raised, crunched hood, a shattered headlight and other damage. Porter's vehicle had "moderate damage" to the rear left corner of the vehicle. Porter, her boyfriend and her 3-year-old daughter were all transported to Firelands after the crash. Porter and her boyfriend suffered back injuries, the report said.
