Pregnant Mother dies in Car Crash | Toledo Ohio Accident Attorney

Charles E. Boyk Law Offices is sad to report; a Tampa mother who was 6 months pregnant has died after being hit by a car Wednesday night.

Two women Monica Alvarez and Shanita Little were walking to the store along N 43rd Street when a driver going in the same direction hit them.

Alvarez, who was 6 months pregnant, and her one-year old daughter Imani Golden were airlifted to Tampa General Hospital.

Doctors were not able to save Alvarez. They performed a c-section to remove her unborn baby boy, but the child did not survive. Her daughter Imani is in critical condition with injuries to the head and lungs and is listed in critical condition.

The other mother and child, Shanita Little and Marquisha Wilson, were taken to St Joseph's Hospital. Police say they were banged up and had some cuts, but were now stable and recovering. 

Police said both the darkness and the lack of sidewalks played major roles in the crash.

The driver is a 25-year old man that claims he didn't see the women and their strollers until it was too late.

It's not clear whether he will face any charges. Alcohol and drugs were not the cause of this accident.
