State Trooper Crack Down

State troopers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, and West Virginia are joining together this week and placing a focus on distracted driving. The Ohio Patrol Superintendent Colonel John Born explained that a driver taking their eyes off of the road for just a few seconds can be dangerous.

Ohio patrol’s air units plan to assist the troopers during this week-long project. The hope is that this crack down on distracted driving will help to increase awareness throughout the state and ultimately decrease the number of accidents.

Dangers of Distracted Driving

Our office feels very strongly about this issue as we continually bring attention to the dangers of distracted driving. April was Distracted Driving Awareness Month and we posted several posts on our blog highlighting the dangers of distracted driving and the different forms of it. Everything from texting to grooming is done while people are behind the wheel, leading to multiple accidents on the roadways.

If you have a habit of driving while performing other tasks, our office urges you to think twice before doing so. No matter how important the text, email, or phone call may seem, it does not take precedence over your safety and the safety of others.

If you are lost and must use your GPS while driving, pull to the side of the road to type in your destination.

These are among the devices that have been marketed as safe and convenient for the roadway but have in turn caused injury and death.

If you have any questions about the forms of distracted driving, or if you have been injured due to another driver’s failure to pay attention to the roadway, call our Ohio car accident attorneys at 800.637.8170. We want to help bring awareness to this issue and help area drivers safe while behind the wheel. It is essential that you raise awareness about distracted driving and call an experienced attorney if you have been injured at the negligence of another driver.
