Ohio Ranked 3rd for Number of Dog Bites | Toledo, Ohio dog bite attorney

State Farm Insurance Company, the nation's biggest home and auto insurer, recently release the top 10 states for dog bite claims and the amounts paid out as a result of these incidents. Ohio was listed as number 3 on this list. in 2010 State Farm payed out $5.7 million for 215 claims in Ohio.

It was found that State Farm's top 10 did not necessarily reflect the size of the state. Examples of this being that Ohio is the 7th most populous state, but it ranked third on the dog bite top ten, Minnesota ranks as the 21st most populous state, but it is eighth in dog bites, and Indiana which is the 16th most populous state, but it is ranked as number 10 on the list.

Last year 33 dog bites caused death and 2 of those were in Illinois. Illinois ranked number 2 on this list and is the nation's fifth populous state. After California, Illinois had the highest payout of insurance claims.
