Lack of Oxygen May Have Killed Teen | Toledo Ohio medical malpractice lawyer
The Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office is tentatively saying the cause of death for 13-year-old Marissa Kingery was lack of oxygen to the brain after anesthesia for dental work. The teen was undergoing surgery to remove baby teeth and expose an impacted tooth when she had to be rushed to the hospital. She was on life support for almost two weeks before she passed away.
Marissa's parents are currently consulting with a lawyer to consider a wrongful death lawsuit in response to this tragedy.
With a case like this, there is also the possibility of medical malpractice being considered. It would have to be proved that the doctor who was performing Marissa's surgery fell below acceptable standards of care.
We are saddened to hear about this case and our thoughts are with Marissa's family as they mourn their loss.
