The family of Timothy Pittas, 26, who died on December 12th has filed a lawsuit against Qualityscapes Inc.

Timothy was killed while working for for the family landscaping business. His clothing became stuck in the auger of a salt spreader. The lawsuit is against the manufacturer of the salt spreader. Upon further investigation into these salt spreaders, it was found that Timothy was not the first victim, and that these salt spreaders are quite dangerous.

The salt spreader did not have an emergency shutoff device nor did it have a guard to prevent clothing from becoming entagles in the auger. The machinery also did not come with any sort of warning in which they stated that clothing could become caught.

The lawsuit seeks more than $50,000 in damages.
