We reported a semi accident that shut down Route 2 this morning, but now have more details on the accident.

Three traffic accidents all occurred on State Route 2 this morning.

First, an eastbound semi slid off the north side of the roadway, crossed the median, and went off of the embankment. The driver of the semi was taken via life flight to the hospital.

The second accident involved in this chain reaction happened just after the medical helicopter cleared the scene. Another vehicle began to slide on the roadway and crossed the median, striking the guardrail. The vehicle came to rest just 200 yards from the scene of the first accident. Fortunately, the driver in this crash was not injured, but as responders were tending to him, a third accident happened.

A third semi lost control and began to slide off of the south side of the road. The semi struck the guardrail and then slid down the embankment and resting in a jack-knife position. The driver was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center by responders.
