Banning texting while driving PART 2 | Perrysburg, Ohio car accident attorneys

Many studies have been conducted about the dangers of using handheld electronics while driving, according to FOX news and the Associated Press.

In a recent study, the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute found that when drivers of heavy trucks texted, their collision risk was 23 times greater than when not texting.  

Dialing a cell phone and using or reaching for an electronic device increased risk of collision about six times in cars and trucks. Virginia Tech researchers found that the risks of texting applied to all drivers. 

Texting has grown tremendously, with over 110 billion messages a month in December 2008, according to CTIA, the cellular phone industry's trade group. 

A report by Car and Driver magazine found that texting and driving is more dangerous than drunken driving
