14-Year-Old on Bike is Killed in a Collision with a Pickup Truck | Toledo, Ohio Child Accident Attorney

Lisa Helman, a sixth-grader and resident of Clayton, Ohio was riding her bike and sped out of her driveway and hit a pickup truck. The truck was traveling eastbound in heavy traffic when the collision occurred. Helman was thrown from her bike and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The truck was not traveling over the speed limit and witnesses said that it appeared that Helman was pedaling very fast out of her driveway, in an attempt to beat traffic.  Ohio State Highway Patrolman Sergeant Joseph Gebhart states "If you are on a bicycle, you have to obey traffic laws like anyone else would."
